Its funny, when I look back on all we endured to get to this point; it all seemed to be created from the stuff that fairytales were made of. Epic stories of adventures of massive portions that could determine the fate of humanity, tales told to mystify and enthrall the youth in order to inspire greatness. While I was young, such stories often lead me to dream of embarking on my own journey someday, proving that even the most insignificant could reach unimaginable heights.
However
not all golden opportunities come with out tarnished circumstances. What they dont tell you in fairytales is the possible heartache and pain the heroes must endure to reach that impossible goal, the painful reality that wont allow even magic to soften the blows. Perhaps I got my adventure but at an unbearable price.
So, maybe you will not hear our story being told at bed time to chase the demons away. There is no Prince that slays the dragon and the Princess doesnt necessarily get rescued from the abandoned tower. The heroes arent perfect and the villains arent necessarily the bad guys
but if I dont tell their story then no one ever will. Thus this is it, no sugar coating, the honest truth in its entirety. I dont expect you to understand, nor do I even expect you to believe but perhaps you could open your mind to my
our journey and come to appreciate that not all tales end in happily ever after.
However I suppose in the spirit of fairytales
in order to bring you a small comfort, Ill follow tradition just this once:
Once upon a time
-Ashes to Ashes: Prologue
